There, it seems that engineers are held to a bit higher standards and jobs that here are done by MSc people like applied physicists are done by engineers whereas engineers with BSc degrees would be managers and technicians, not top level engineers or scientists.

I hear physics major is worthless outside of academia (and academia is very hard to get into). My mom has really been pressuring me into engineering because of the job opportunities, and I had a teacher last year who got a physics degree from the place I’m going and he says that there are no jobs for physics majors (other than teaching high school).

My situation is similar to yours, in fact I think the Engineering Physics degree is much more physics than it is engineering. I've even heard some say it's pretty much physics, just with a bit more interest in applications- although I'm not sure. I would rank these subjects in terms of descending order of difficulty as, firstly, physics (hardest), then mathematics (second hardest, though still quite hard), and then engineering (easiest).
